Megaprojects: What Works, What Fails, and What's Next (15 September 2026)
We are delighted to share that our seminar on "Megaprojects: What Works, What Fails, and What's Next", held on 15 September 2026, was a resounding success!
The evening brought together construction law practitioners and industry professionals for a rich and thought-provoking discussion on the challenges and opportunities in delivering megaprojects. Our distinguished panellists Ms Laura Chang, Ms Fenglin Hong, Er Jee Yi Yng (YY), Sr Natalie Yong offered invaluable perspectives drawn from their extensive experience across the sector.
Two analogies from the session particularly resonated with the audience: Ms Laura Chang likened successful project delivery to a three-legged race — stakeholders bound together, moving towards the same finish line. The image is a powerful reminder that in megaprojects, no party can sprint ahead alone; progress depends on coordination, trust, and a shared commitment to the end goal.

Ms Natalie Yong offered an equally compelling perspective, describing the various stakeholders as each forming an essential part of a living whole. Just as the human body cannot thrive if the skeletal structure or any vital organ fails, a megaproject cannot succeed unless every participant — from developer to contractor to consultant — functions in concert with the others.
Together, these two analogies capture a central truth about megaproject delivery: it demands both alignment of purpose and interdependence of effort.
Our new Council member, Ms Ellen Alexandra Wong, skilfully guided the dialogue across a diverse panel of professionals, drawing together their different perspectives through insightful and practical questions grounded in real-world megaproject challenges. She kept the discussion engaging, focused and forward-looking, encouraging candid reflections on what works, what fails and what the industry should be thinking about next. We on the SCL (Singapore) Council are delighted to have Ellen on board and are excited by the fresh perspective, energy and drive she brings to the Council and its activities.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our panellists, moderator, and all who attended for making this such an engaging and memorable evening. We look forward to continuing these important conversations in future events.
