WEBINAR: Construction in Singapore Beyond COVID-19: A View from SCL(S) Council Members (6 May 2020)
Changing with the times, SCL Singapore kicked off its first ever professional development event webinar on 6 May. With our chain of usual events usurped by the Circuit Breaker, SCL Singapore wanted to find a way to continue to engage with members and provide the professional development updates at the same time. It was an apt occasion for SCL Singapore council members led by Chairman, Toh Chen Han and other council members Anil Changaroth, Darren Benger, Trevor Lam and Alex Wong (as moderator) to give their views as a panel on the impact of COVID 19 on the construction industry in Singapore. The panel shared their views on immediate present impacts including the COVID (Temporary Measures) Act and the likely future developments including the impact of COVID 19 on supply chains and the use of labour. The webinar ended with a straw poll from panellists indicating that collaborative contracting was both an effective and likely method to resolve the substantial impacts of COVID 19 on existing construction contracts. Until we are able to meet again in person, SCL Singapore will continue to use the webinar format to bring our events to the membership.
